Aaron Eckhart's performance as Dr. Seth Ember is undoubtedly the film's most potent asset. He imbues the character with a palpable weariness, cynicism, and deep-seated trauma, delivering a nuanced portrayal of a man wrestling with personal demons while confronting a literal one. Eckhart significantly elevates the material, conveying themes of redemption and profound loss with conviction. While supporting performances from Carice van Houten and David Mazouz are competent, they don't quite reach the same intensity.
